Totally self-contained and fully automatic, the A-3 valve is well suited for passenger car applications. The A-3 has brass cap and body, with brass and stainless steel components, incorporating both a unique Buna-N plug seal and valve seat, to allow for full valve drainage.

The A-3 senses ambient temperature. When the temperature falls to 38°F, the valve begins to open and is fully open at 35ºF.

An optional, no tool required for installation, heater is available, to aid in closing the valve, thereby allowing for quick refill in cold weather. The heater starts to close the valve in approximately 5 minutes, a neon lamp indicates if it is energized. Using PTC technology, the heater is temperature self-regulating, to prevent overheating.
